ENT care, or ear, nose, and throat care, involves the medical treatment of conditions affecting these areas.

Airway surgery encompasses various procedures aimed at treating obstructions and other issues within the airway, which includes the nose, throat, trachea, and bronchi.

Ear Care

  • Hearing Loss: Evaluation and treatment of hearing issues, including fitting for hearing aids.
  • Ear Infections: Diagnosis and management of acute or chronic ear infections.
  • Tinnitus: Treatment of ringing or noise in the ears.
  • Balance Disorders: Addressing problems with balance, often related to inner ear issues.

Nose Care

  • Allergies: Management of nasal allergies, including immunotherapy.
  • Sinusitis: Treatment of acute or chronic sinus infections, which may include medication or surgery.
  • Nasal Obstruction: Correction of structural problems like a deviated septum that cause breathing difficulties.
  • Nosebleeds: Management and treatment of frequent or severe nosebleeds

Throat Care

  • Tonsillitis: Treatment of infected or inflamed tonsils, sometimes requiring surgical removal (tonsillectomy).

Head and Neck Care

  • Head and Neck Cancer: Diagnosis and treatment of cancers in the head and neck region.

General Procedures

Endoscopy: Use of a flexible scope to examine the ear, nose, and throat for diagnostic purposes

Airway care

Tracheostomy

  • Purpose: Creation of an opening in the neck to the trachea to allow direct breathing.
  • Procedure: Often performed in emergency situations or for long-term ventilation.

Laryngoscopy

  • Purpose: Examination and treatment of the larynx (voice box) for issues like tumors, nodules, or polyps.
  • Procedure: Insertion of a laryngoscope through the mouth to view and treat the larynx.

Bronchoscopy

  • Purpose: Examination and treatment of the airways and lungs, including removal of foreign objects or biopsy of suspicious areas.
  • Procedure: Insertion of a bronchoscope through the nose or mouth into the bronchi.

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

  • Purpose: Treatment of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps to improve sinus drainage.
  • Procedure: Use of an endoscope to remove blockages and improve sinus function.

Subglottic Stenosis Surgery

  • Purpose: Treatment of narrowing below the vocal cords.
  • Procedure: Various techniques, including dilation or laser surgery, to widen the airway.

Airway Reconstruction Surgery

  • Purpose: Reconstruction of the trachea or larynx due to congenital abnormalities, trauma, or tumors.
  • Procedure: May involve grafting or the use of stents to maintain airway patency.

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)

  • Purpose: Treatment of obstructive sleep apnea by removing excess tissue in the throat.
  • Procedure: Removal of the uvula, part of the soft palate, and sometimes part of the tonsils.
